How to Reach Panchet

You could reach Panchet both by both rails as well as by road. In case you are to travel by train you need to get down at Barakar railway station, which is the nearest one. You could get down here and easily hire an auto rickshaw from Barakar railway station.

Be it from Dhanbador any other place you could also reach Panchet easily by road as well. From Dhanbad if you are traveling by car it should take you about 1 & ½ hours. So in case you happen to be in Dhanbad you could easily visit Panchet within a day.

The lake on which it is built is spread over 65 square kilometers. This was developed by the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC Ltd) way back in the year 1948. The dam is about 15712 ft long and about 165 ft long. The underground power station has a capacity to generate around 60,000 KW of electric power.

You could reach Maithon both by trains as well by road. It is located about 48 kms from Dhanbad. So in case you stay at Dhanbad you could easily plan for a full day trip to this beautiful tourist spot. At Maithon the only decent accommodation available is at the tourist bungalow owned by the Government of West Bengal. It offers good facilities. But the numbers of rooms are limited, which is why if you are to book rooms then you must do so in advance.
